SCARSDALE-
An ex-Marine, graduated last June from Northwestern University, was killed Saturday night when his convertible went off the Bronx River Parkway near Ogden Road and struck two trees, parkway police report.Sgt. James Brooks and Patrolmen Stephen Wasylenko and Dominick Lacatelli of the parkway police found Thomas L. Tone, 24, of 15 Ridgecrest N. dead in the car. Police theorized that Mr. Tone's car failed to make a curve.
The victim was the son of Mr. and Mrs. George Tone. He had attended Scarsdale High School and had spent two years in the Marines before entering Northwestern.
This was the 52nd auto fatality in Westchester this year compared with 73 on the same date last year. It was the sixth auto death on the Bronx River Parkway this year and the first in Scarsdale since last Nov. 3.
Mr. Tone was a member of Alpha Delta Phi fraternity at Northwestern. He served in the Marines from 1956 to 1958. Also surviving is a brother, David, of the home address.
A separate obituary includes the detail that he "...returned a week ago after graduate study at the University of Valencia, Spain." It also mentions that his father is "...a patent attorney for the General Aniline and Film Corporation, New York."
